My Sister's Keeper

Yesterday I watched one of the most touching movies ever in my life - My Sister's Keeper. The show relates about a couple who was living happily with their young son and 2-year old daughter Kate until they learnt that Kate had leukemia. The parents' only hope was to conceive another child, genetrically made to save Kate's life. For some, such genetic engineering would raise both moral and ethinical questions, but for the parents, they have no choice but to do whatever it takes to keep Kate alive and at the expense of the new child, Anna.

Since young, Anna has been giving blood platelets to Kate regularly in order to keep her alive. That involved the painful medical procedures and hospital stays for both of them.. Throughout the show, the family stuck close together to help Kate live a happy life as much as possible and lessen her pain. To cut the long story short, Kate lost the battle in the end and in a way, relieved the long-going pain and trauma for the whole family. Anna was her sister's keeper by keeping her sister alive.. The movie was very special to me.. It brought back past memories of my own sister being diagnosed with leukemia when she was young..

Very often in my hospital visits, I saw my sister gone through the painful chemotherapy treatment and having after effects like vomiting, loss of hair and weight.. Not just the physical torture, but emotionally, she felt depressed and became isolated. Throughout the show, I broke down many times and teared continuously at the similar incidents my sister had to go through.. But praise God, Jesus healed her completely and she is able to live normally until now.. Whenever I thought of this healing testimony, I am forever grateful that Jesus healed my sister and subsequently my family turned to Christ.. Jesus was My Sister's Keeper then and till now, He is still my Sister's Keeper!
