Off day

Yesterday had a off day, so I went back office to clear some work. After that I went to serangoon mall which I did some design in the tenancy units. Quite a nice place. Plenty of Makan place.. Half of it. Shall bring my family when they are free. Wanted to watch movie at Cathay nex, but too many ppl. So I took circle line down to my fav place. Kallang leisure park to watch. Got a ticket and watch a comedy called Gulliver Travel, starring Jack Black. Had a good laugh and had bak kwa as snack. Woo.. Heavenly. Went home after that. And that's how I spent my off day.. Haha

It's thus time of the year that we give thanks to the Lord for what He has done in 2010.. Thank Him for my new job, thank Him for my ministry, thank for my family, thank Him for my life and thank Him that I can serve Him. Believe 2011 will be a better year!

Son of Babylon

After watching the movie "Son of Babylon" today, I felt that I am extremely blessed in this part of the world. The movie is about a young boy and his grandmother who went across Iraq to search for their father who was taken away to fight in the Gulf War in 1991. After Saddam Hussein fell in 2003, they thought that he could return home and see them finally. However, he never returned and in the end, the grandma also died of old age, leaving the young boy homeless and broken.

Saw many dead bodies and ruined towns in the show, which caused me to pray for Iraq. Nations rise and fall on the leadership, and because of the tyrancy of their former president, Saddam Hussein, Iraq was forced to live in war and poverty. Families were broken, and women & children live in fear everyday. Definitely not in the will of God to see people suffering in this way. As end times are nearing, pray that many more nations will turn to Christ and there will be more peace & love in this broken down world.

Inception

If Inception really exists, I wish to induce myself into the following memories in my life..

1) when I was the lead actor in my primary 6 farewell drama
2) when I first recevied salvation at my uncle church at 14
2) when I was in JC, the crazy 2 years
3) when I first met her on 19 march 2006, she made me laugh until cramp

That will remain as beautiful memories, hope to relive those moments..

Virus attack

This week, I had a virus attack which causes almost all symptoms.

Cough, flu, sore throat, vomit, diarrhea, fever, headache, nausea, body pain..

I had 8 different kinds of medicine to counter each of the symptoms.

Maybe I stayed up late too often during late night soccer, KTV and drinking.

I need a rest.. I will be back next week.

Yesterday, I made my personal record - I danced non-stop for 4 hours at Zouk and drank quite a lot.. My legs are aching now and having abit hangover. I am no longer the young punk 10 years ago.. Getting old.. But it was a good workout and exercise, even better than 21km marathon! Look forward to the next outing..

Heaven call

God has given me a vision and a ministry through a verse in Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me
1) To preach the gospel to the poor
2) To heal the broken-hearted
3) To proclaim liberty to the captives
4) To recover sight to the blind
5) To set at liberty those who are oppressed

I must write this down and make it plain on tablets, so that I will run towards it and fufill it! Habakkuk 2:2

Most importantly, I need the Holy Spirit and His spiritual gifts to help fulfil this vision. The Bible says in 1 Cor 14:1 - Pursue Love and desire spiritual gifts earnestly! We need to operate these spiritual gifts in the atmosphere of LOVE too! I must keep confessing and keep acting on it to fufill my calling in God!

Tattoo craze

It seems that the people that I have met recently all have tattoos.. Herman and Andy Shi (both FH leaders) have nice tattoos on their arms.. A nice nurse that I know also have tattoo.. Some of my colleagues also have tattoos on their bodies.. Woo.. Time for me to have one?

Probably put FH logo on my arm (show my love for my ministry) or put Liverpool motto Y.N.W.A (You'll never walk alone) on my hand. Or put a cross on my back (bear the cross for Christ, wah very spiritual.. lol).. hmm.. but can we invent pain-free tattoo-ing? The thought of hurting myself.. faint.. But I will design my own tattoo picture - Jack climbing the beanstalk to Heaven..

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

Vision

If I am a millionaire, I will use my money to build the following for God's glory!

1) Hospice - To provide a home for the terminally-ill patients
2) Hospital - To provide free medical services for the poor and needy
3) Old Folks' Home - To provide a home for the abandoned old folks
4) Orphanage - To provide accomodation for the homeless orphans

Yes, I pray that I will be a philanthropist to help the poor and the needy!

Encounter with God

I was worshipping during service last week, when I remember how Jesus literally appeared in front of me 6 years ago. I was attending bible study back then with Pastor Tan on the tabernacle series. He was demonstrating on how we can draw reference of worship from entering the outer court and into the Holy of Holies. Still remember the worship song that we sang – “I want to sing”.. The presence of God was so strong that night. As I slowly search for God during the worship, suddenly I entered into a state which I have never experienced before. The song was still playing, but I could hear nothing.. it was so quiet.. everything seemed to come to a standstill. The presence of God filled my heart and I felt as if God is in front of me. I dare not move, for I feared that His presence will leave me. Unknowingly, I have entered into the Holy of Holies!

Suddenly, a huge silvery face (similar to the liquidated form of T2000 in Terminator 2) appeared in front of me and said to me “Hi Jack, How have you been?” I froze at that moment.. I have met my Lord Jesus Christ for the first time, literally see Him face to face! I was so happy! After about 10s, I went back to normal self and opened my eyes. The worship was still going on and the silvery face was gone.. Though it was just a short moment that I saw Jesus, I will cherish and remember that experience forever in my heart! I hope I can have similar encounter with Jesus once again during worship, where I know that I know, that He is there in front of me and talking to me directly. What an encounter with God!

Another new life

Finally baby Xavier arrived after extended visa in Stephanie tummy.. Good Good... More babies.. more people added into God's kingdom!

Ideal Job

It will be ideal if I can work only 4 days (Mon, Tue, Thur & Fri) and rest 3 days (Wed, Sat & Sun)

9-10am - Work
10-11am - Tea Break
11-12pm - Work
12-2pm - Lunch Break
2-3pm - Work
3-4pm - Tea Break
4-5pm - Work
5pm - Knock off

Basically, I work only 4 hours and rest 4 hours. Lol.. in my dreams..

God give us all

Romans 8: 32 - He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

What a powerful verse! God has already planned out a great future and the best things for us even before we were born. Though we may not see it now, it is because of His wonderful timing. Sometimes, we get too impatient when things did not turn out the way we wanted, but rest assured, when God said in His Word, it shall be done according to His perfect timing and will! Praise God for His plan in my life! I can hope and look forward to His great plan for me!

Happy decade in CHC

Still remember the first time I stepped into City Harvest Sunday Service at the old Hollywood Theatre.. Oh my.. The presence of God was so strong and tangible.. Tears welled up my eyes as I sang the worship song.. I could hear God speaking to me so clearly "Welcome back Jack.. I have never left you.. I have always loved you.." I broke down and cried continuously..

Just a week ago, I was praying to God to direct me to the right church.. I have not been attending church regularly and was asking God for the right direction in my life after army.. Then a few days later, my good friend Victor Tan gave me a call to invite me to City Harvest Church sunday service. Wow! God answered my prayers so quickly and I immediately said yes! Together with our other JC good friend, Justin, we went to this wonderful church and gave our hearts to Jesus! From that day onwards, our lives were never be the same again!

Since young, I used to be very fearful and had low self-esteem of myself. Very often, I kept to myself and seldom open up to others. But God slowly changed me and I became more confident and joyful! God gave me a simple vision in my life - to help people and bring joy to others! So I began to serve in my cellgroup & ministry and use my God given talents to serve God and His people! I even went to the Bible School in 2006 and spent one year to study the Word of God! Currently, I am happily serving in First Hand ministry, helping the terminally-ill patients and bringing hope & joy to their lives! Justin and Victor are both cellgroup leaders now!

As I looked back to the 10 years in CHC, there are many ups and downs in my life. Life was never easy as a Christian. But thank God for CHC, I always feel loved and encouraged in this wonderful spiritual family! It is in this church that I feel God is so real in my life! Despite all the negative media reports and the probe surrounding our church, I am always grateful to CHC pastors and leaders for building such a great spiritual family! Most of all, I thank God for calling me back and planting me in this wonderful church in June 2000. Justin and Victor, Happy 10th year anniversary in CHC and many more years to come.. I love you two always! xoxo

God our deliverer

This week has been a turbulent week for us! Newspapers, TV, internet all wrote about City Harvest Church. Initially, I was quite disturbed and provoked about it. But after praying, believe God is still in control of this situation and will not leave His children alone! God has done a great work in our lives after Asian Conference, while on the other side, they are afraid of us. So they decided to distract and maybe try to tear us apart.

Well, God is moulding us together and pure gold will emerge in fire! (trials and tribulations) Believe God will vindicate us and justice will prevail. In the mean time, we will pray like never before, intercede for our church ceaselessly and stay united as one! Jia you! God will deliver us and defeat our enemies in Jesus powerful name!

Dr Reinhard Bonnke

I was simply blown away by Dr Reinhard Bonnke preaching today at Asian Conference! I was totally memerised by how God uses him to get over 55 million people in Africa to give their hearts to Jesus! His preaching was so powerful and I can sense that he preaches from the bottom of his heart. His desire was that every believer must be baptised into the river of fire and go boldly in the power of the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel to all nations!

I was deeply impacted when he mentioned that the Word of God works hand in hand with the Spirit of God in the book of Genesis. The Spirit is constantly hovering over the void earth, and when God said, 'Let there be Light, and there was light! The Holy Spirit can't work miracles w/o God's Word and likewise, vice versa. The Holy Spirit is always present with us and has never left us! As Christians, we must carry the tongue of fire God had placed in us and preach the gospel boldly in the power of the Holy Spirit! End times are coming.. It is really the heartbeat of God right now, to see the lost turning to Christ!

Personally, God has impressed in my heart to be a healing evangelist for Christ, when Benny Hinns came 2 years ago in AC. Today, God reminded me again through Reinhard Bonnke preaching. I really dunno how to win souls to Christ effectively, sometimes feel discouraged too. But like what Dr Bonnke mentioned, he also dunno how to do it, but he just obeyed the HOLY SPIRIT, and God anointed him to be a powerful evangelist for Christ! Lets obey the call and plunder hell & populate heaven! Amen!

New commandment

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Love motivates us to lay down our lives for Christ, just like the 12 disciples. Everytime I read or sing this verse, I am reminded of how the disciples laid down their lives to spread the gospel in the book of Acts. That love for Christ.. that love for people.. so powerful..

All things work together

All things work together for good to those who love God, and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28. If all things work together for good, how many things are not working together for good? The answer is none! All things can be used by God. Even the things that are not sent by God can be used by God for the good to those who love Him. Powerful verse!

Power of testimony

I was sharing with some of my friends about my own personal testimonies.. how I know Christ through the healing of my sister's leukemia, how I overcome depression when I was young, how I was changed in the army & how God help me get my honours degree despite many obstacles. Thank God for being able to share His goodness and be an effective witness..

I realise that all these testimonies will not happen if bad things or tough times don't happen in our lives.. God began to encourage me that when I meet with tough times, it is time for God to help me overcome them, and not run away from them! I love to share testimonies! This verse is powerful.. Revelation 12:11 "They overcame the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony!"

Keep sharing testimonies and God's goodness to everyone because it has the power to unlock mindsets and bring people closer to Jesus! If God is good all the time, all the time I share testimonies and God's goodness.. Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Pray for boldness and the power of the Holy Spirit when I reach out to my friends this Easter! Jia you!

Obedience

Christian walk is simple.. just obey God and His Word
He has the best plan for everyone of us
Though we may not understand His plan
and it seems that everything is out of control
Woo.. God is the master planner.. His wisdom is far ahead of us
He is able to do the impossible.. Praise Him!

Nuclear meltdown

2 Peter 3:10 - "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up."

Been searching this verse for some time.. finally found it.. The end is near.. It may be a nuclear meltdown in the end of time.. Just one request to God.. Receive my spirit just before the nuclear meltdown.. It can be quite scary.. I rather be raptured than be ruptured..

New church land

The church has been buzzing ever since we knew that we have acquired the new church land in central south. Been trying to figure out where the church land is.. Could it be beside the new IR, marina bay or at the heart of CBD, shenton way? I hope that the new church will be built near indoor stadium.. near my house.. woo.. But the best news will be that I can contribute to the church by being the M&E consultant for the new church building.. Pray that my company can bid successfully for this $310 million building.. Keep praying..

Professional Engineer

New year new company new vision.. Believe I can get my Professional Engineer cert in 5 year's time.. but first I need to pass my theory exam this Sep and practical exam next march, plus one thesis report and PE board interview.. Yes.. I believe I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! Though I am not the natural born engineer (i am a artistic person, not a technical person) but God will make grace abound for every good work! Believe the verse "Grace to it, Grace to it! God will add His grace to my current ability and make me a PE to be a blessing to the society. Cultural mandate.. I will become rich and use my knowledge to help poor developing countries build schools and hospitals.. Woo..Life is exciting because of JESUS!
