Anointing of God

Power of fasting & praying

Isaiah 58 talks about the fasting that pleases God.

Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the LORD?
6 “ Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.
9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’

Today I shall proclaim a fast, and the LORD shall fight on my behalf! Time for spiritual warfare!

Abundant Grace

Really thank God for His grace and mercy in my work during the past week. I was running into BIG BIG trouble in my work. My Iluma building was scheduled to open to public on saturday 26 March, with the main highlight being the opening of the Filmgarde cineplex and the various retail & F&B units. However, the cinema could not be cleared for operation by the authorities BCA & FSSD, as we could not obtain the TOP and FSC in time for thursday movie preview.

The week started when I paid the cheque to SCDF for the approval for cinema fire safety for my client. I should have paid by NETS or credit card, as cheque processing time takes 5 working days to clear. Hence, the architect kept chasing me for the clearance so that they can apply for TOP to BCA. By thursday, the cheque did not clear in time and the cinema is scheduled for movie preview and media interview that day. I prayed to God "Please help me, this time jialat already.." Thank God for hearing my prayers, the SCDF officer helped me to clear the cheque and managed to get the fire safety certifcate at 5pm. Then they quickly faxed the approval to BCA and apply TOP immediately. By 6pm, they got the TOP clearance in time for the 7pm movie preview on that day.. The whole process usually takes about at least one week to clear.. but we did it in a few hours time! Phew.. God is never late but always on time!

Round 2. On Friday, the gas approval was not cleared on time for F&B opening to the public on saturday. We talked to the authorities Citygas & Powergas to help us expedite on the matter. They told us they cant make it to do inspection and gas turn-on by this week! At the end of the day at 530pm, I could not manage to convince the authorities, I was thinking "this time really siao liao, but i keep praying and ask God to help me again!" Indeed, our God is our loving Father who hears our prayers.. By 730pm, I received a call from my boss to standby on site for gas inspection and turn-on the next day! Praise the Lord! Usually, the authorities will not do inspection and gas turn-on within one day and on saturday, but my God is a God of miracles! The next day, I went down to Iluma site and completed the gas turn-on within that day! The F&B units are now able to operate with gas cooking and food for the public..

As I recalled the past week and the past one year in this new company, I thank God for His amazing grace and mercy upon me. For a new engineer like me with 1-2 years experience and handle such a high-profile project, its the favour and grace of God that helps me pull through. The Iluma building is now ready for operation and handing over to the client. God reminds me of this wonderful verse, which is always my motto in my walk with God.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor 12:9

God uses weak people like me to demonstrate His immense grace and power in my life! Sometimes, tough times may come like a huge wave hitting hard on us, that we cannot breathe and want to give up. But God's grace is always sufficient for us to pull us through! Keep trusting and keep praying in times of trouble!

Renewing mindset

The following food items are in my top 5 banned list..

1) Lotus
2) Lady Finger
3) Bittergourd
4) Brinjal
5) Ginger

Thank God I have overcome the top 3 items - lotus, lady finger & bittergourd. Especially bittergourd! Once in a while, I would order one of those dishes for my meal. I think its all about the mindset. I used to have a locked mindset that vegetables are disgusting stuff, esp those non leafy vegetables like green chilli, lady finger, brinjal.. wah faint! But slowly, I begin to overcome and even grow to like it..

Now to overcome the brinjal first.. must tell myself it is nice and good for health! Power of renewed mindset.. Tomorrow order brinjal for my packet of rice! Ginger may take some time to overcome.. (ginger tea.. yucks!)

Things may not seem as bad as you think! Look at the positive side! RENEW YOUR MIND!

Thank God

Really thank God for protection.. I lost my wallet on friday afternoon.. it was pouring heavily so i took out my umbrella hurriedly and dropped my wallet in a cab. Thank God, I phoned the Comfort hotline and managed to trace the taxi-driver. He brought back my wallet and even send me to my next destination.. 2nd blessing - I went home after a wedding lunch on sunday afternoon. I could not find my house key.. I was thinking.. again? I lost my thing again.. Thank God.. the keys happened to slip into my other compartment in my wallet, manage to find the keys.. phew.. God is good!

Nintendo Wii

Got a shock when I saw a new 42'' LCD TV and a brand new Nintendo Wii at my office pantry.. My boss bought this for us during lunch time and tea-break.. amazing.. played bowling and tennis with my colleagues.. woo.. good exercise after lunch..

Persistent Prayer

Persistent prayer is powerful.. Keep praying.. God is always there to hear our prayers.. He just want to see if we are persistent and trust in Him! So if you have problems in health, finances, relationships, work or need a breakthrough, keep praying and you can overcome them.. Woo.. Persistent prayer is like shooting ammunition to your enemies.. keep shooting.. Holy Spirit is never ending ammunition.. No matter how big your enemies, keep shooting.. it will fall eventually.. Thank God for this revelation..

Cinema Projector Room

1st time in my life I went into a cinema projector room to see how the cinema works.. Was quite amazed by the huge disc rolling fim machine and the gigantic projector.. Managed to catch some free movie previews, while they test run the cinemas.. Kio dio..

Happy Day

Yesterday was a happy day for me! My good JC friend, Joshua Tan, finally got married. The place was at Hort Park, a very wooloo place at Alexandra. Took cab in the end as I was late. Was surprised to see waitat as the video cameraman for Joshua (same NUS classmate). Anyway, I had a great time talking rubbish with him, before my JC friends came and we sat together as a group. It was a christian wedding, and the pastor was Joshua father himself. We sang some worship songs as the wedding proceeded, and the couple exchanged marriage vows in chinese! We joked how Joshua learnt to speak chinese so well (he eat potato wan).

Me and Justin had a pleasant surprise when we saw Pastor Neuville, who shared about his life in the DVD "My Hope, Singapore" , signing the marriage papers for the couple. Actually, all of us were hungry and concentrating on the food instead of the wedding.. So once we had our photos taken with the couple, we quickly "dashed" towards the food like a predator and gobbled up the food.. Woo.. the dinner was great.. as usual, we had our round of bo liao jokes together. I even met up with my primary school teacher, Ms Swee, who taught me in P1, P2 and P4. She was Joshua grand aunt.. and we had a great time recalling about good old days in primary school..

Around 8pm, the dinner ended as we congralulated Joshua again before we made our move. Me and Daniel quickly dashed off for the important match of the season! ManU vs Liverpool! We went to my favourite hangout pub at China Square, but to my horror, the place is already crowded and with ManU fans somemore! So we went to other small pub and managed to find a place to sit and watch my beloved Liverpool play! We ordered some beer as the match started.

ManU scored first through a penalty, I was thinking.. thats it.. my team is going to lose unless they equalised before halftime.. But thank God, Liverpool fought back to lead 2-1 at half-time. I began to sms my 2 beloved Liverpool fans, Isaiah and Ziwei, and conduct a mini-prayer meeting to pray for our team.. Cast out red devils (ManU nickname) in Jesus name.. After praying, the second half started and in the end, Liverpool scored 2 more goals to humiliate ManU.. I was super overjoyed by the scoreline! We plan to "suan" our manU fans (bruce, tristan and dan) during sunday service and buy them free NEW PAPER for them to read.. haha.. They used to call our team LiverFool, we tot of better one for them.. Manure Utd! Anyway, it was a happy day for me! Long Live Liverpool!

Childhood dream

Sometimes, I see myself of a design person rather than an engineer. Not really a technical person.. Likes colours, shapes and free space.. Maybe I can be a good fashion designer, an interior designer or even an artist (childhood dream)..

My Favourite - Sashimi

Today went sushi-don with alan, michelle, ah hong at funan. I love japanese food, esp my favourite salmon sashimi.. When I saw the salmon sashimi moving past me on the conveyor belt, I could hear it calling up to me.. Come Jack.. come and eat me up.. woo.. I immediately grabbed one plate and put one sashimi into my mouth... oh my goodness.. It melts in my mouth.. woo.. It is really on earth as it is in heaven, give me this day my daily sashimi.. I feel like being raptured and meeting Jesus in mid-air.. woo.. the tasty sashimi really makes my day.. To end on a strong note, I finish another plate of sashimi by myself after my main dish.. With tears of gratitude, I thank God for creating such heavenly dish for me.. Praise God..

Encouragement

Today was quite discouraged by my work.. Loads of work after one day of MC.. and new work coming in.. and have to attend meetings till 4 plus.. only left a few hours to clear.. body still not feeling well.. but I was encouraged by my director, Mr Tay, during the meeting. He encouraged me how to be a good consultant and taught me how to handle tough situations.. Really thank God for sending him to guide me along.. Anyway, my project Iluma finally got TOP (Temporary Occupancy Permit) which means it is safe to occupy and ready for operation.. Opening at the end of the month.. pray for smooth handing over to client.. heez..

Victor Place

Last saturday, I was invited to my buddy victor tan's new house at tampines. I thought I can go and admire his new beautiful house.. To my surprise, or rather as expected, he told me he needs help to carry things from Lilian house at Katong and off I go to be his "maid servant". It was pouring heavily then, I was thinking in my heart.. thanks lor.. for inviting me and bringing me around to carry things for you.. But after being his good buddy and knowing him for so long, I decided to put myself on the altar again and "sacrificed " myself to help him.

Nicholas and Lilian intended to give him and Shuxian a huge mirror, a sofa chair, a glass stool and a glass lamp. So we happily moved the stuff into the car when suddenly we heard a "crack" sound. To our horror, we accidentally cracked the fragile lamp. Nicholas & Lilian tried to salvage the lamp by using double sided tape, but to no avail. So we brought the "cracked" lamp back to his place. His new house is quite nice though, very windy at the 17th floor, bird's eye view of the surrounding.. Shuxian was busy doing housework, so I decided to babysit Adara for a while.

Baby Adara is only 4 months old now, but she looked so cute and adorable. Decided to carry the baby into my arms for the first time in my life.. (usually I am afraid that I may hurt the baby..) To my surprise, she dint cry and look at me curiously.. So I decided to play with her and move her around with my arms. She smiled and enjoyed being with me.. After some time, we decided to go over to our JC friend, John house who happen to stay the next block.. Had a great time talking with John family and went around to see his new house.. As it was getting late, me and Victor's family went to Tampines to have dinner together before I head home. Really had a great time that day and hope to go to my JC friends' house whenever I am free..

Miserable show

Sunday after service, I went to watch a miserable show with eugene and yap. Movie Title "Kungfu Chefs" Like what justin commented, how can one be a kungfu expert and a great chef at the same time? It is a super half-hearted show.. Almost fainted in the middle of the show, figuring what is the story about.. Thanks to Eugene who recommended this show - "wah this movie got sammo hung, should be very nice ar, got kungfu.." Feel like killing him.. Anyway, I am entitled to one movie refund from him and 2 movie refunds from uncle yap for max payne and the day the world stood still. Next time, I must be led by the Spirit to choose movie to watch.. haha

Free exercise

Today went to my site for inspection. Went up and down the whole day.. Legs became numb and tired after that.. but looking on the positive side, I got free exercise..Woo.. Felt my tummy getting flatter.. maybe psychological.. (As the man thinks, so is he) Anyway, just to encourage myself that I have lost weight.. Haha..

I am looking forward to playing soccer with my JC friends this saturday.. Can exercise again. I am going to do my renowned Jack Fake and do solo runs to score goals.. One last thing, 10 days to go.. My beloved brother in Christ - JC friend - Sec Sch friend Mr Joshua Tan aka (Ya-shua) aka (Tao-E) is getting married next saturday! Happy for him! Yeah..

Depressing day

Yesterday watched a soccer match online till 1am. Scoreline reads - Boro 2 Pool 0. Depressing scoreline for Liverpool and myself. First thing in the morning service is to avoid irritating ManU fans in church.. But to no avail, met Bruce, who cant stop laughing and "consoling" me.. Then after service, I met Tristan who also cant stop laughing and walked up to me to give me a "consolation" pat.. buay tahan.. I hate to admit that Liverpool will be 10 points away from ManU if they win match in hand.. and 11 games to go, it is hard to catch up with ManU.. Another season gone.. *sob*
