Revelations for 2009

I was really impacted by Sun's sharing during saturday expo service. God spoke to me about 3 revelations for 2009:

1) The call of God is greater than anything. Despite all the obstacles being a Hollywood celebrity, she still kept focused on to the vision God has placed in her life!

2) Jesus has set us free! We need to freely express our God given talents and gifts!

3) Preach the gospel, if necessary, use words! Our lifestyle should be a walking testimony for all to see.

Spirit Song

I heard this wonderful hymm "Spirit Song" in the church when I was only 14. Even though 15 years had passed, this song still touches my heart. As I hear this song again, I could sense that Jesus really loves me so much. Though my life journey is never easy and feel like giving up.. He is always there to encourage me. Sometimes I just teared in His presence, knowing that He loves me so much and told me not to give up.. He will come back again to meet us again.. Thank you Lord for the gift of salvation and for loving me...

An abundant life

Jesus said:"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly!" John 10:10

God has promised us an adundant life as we follow Him!

Perfect Love

Babies are wonderful

For the past few months, many of my friends gave birth to new babies.. Everytime I visited those cute babies, I marvel at the wonderful creation by God.. As I carried the babies into my arms, I realise the pain and joy of having a baby. 9 months of pregrancy is not easy.. After the baby is born, its even more straining.. Taking care of the baby in late hours, feeding, bathing.. But the joy of watching the babies grow into beautiful and cute children give the parents a great sense of undescribable joy and happiness! Babies are wonderful.. Woo..

Army of God

God is raising up an army in our generation that will bring the gospel throughout the world.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Cor 10:4-5

Time to reflect

As 2008 is coming to an end, time to reflect on what I have done this year.. Had certain breakthrough.. but still need God grace to have more breakthrough in my career, finances and my ministry.. 6 more weeks before year ends.. Lets finish strong this year! Jia you..

Interior Design

Having this thought for some time.. Signing up for part-time certificate course in interior design in NAFA for January intake. Will take around one year (40 weeks) to finish the certificate course, after which I can opt to take the diploma course.

Since young, I love arts and design. My art pieces are always taken out for mention by my Arts teacher. Even after graduation, I still love to do birthday cards for my cellgroup and friends. A gift from God. Whenever I am designing something, a lot of creative ideas will naturally flow into my mind.. Haiya.. Still dunno why I study engineering in NTU.. Good prospects?

Anyway, God always gives us 2nd chance. Pray to God that He will lead to me to where He wanted me to be. "A man plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps." Proverbs 16:9

Arise and Build!

Today, Pastor preached a great message during the Arise and Build weekend. I felt challenged and inspired by the message, that I pledged more than what I intend to give. Though the sowing of the seed may be painful (savings gone..) but I believe God will never shortchange us as we sow in the House of God! I believe God will do the following breakthroughs as I pray ernestly for it..

1) Dad's salvation
2) Godly partner
3) Healing
4) Promotion in career
5) Effective soul-winning

Our God is a God of breakthrough! He will surely do it.. Amen!

House Painting

Yesterday my whole family made use of the Deepavali holiday to paint the whole house.

Wah really faint.. We started painting at 930am and ended at 630pm..

My body is aching right now.. But the reward is a beautiful house, just like a new flat.

Like what Jesus says, I will make all things new again.. Woo..

Max Payne = Maximum Pain!!

Today I looked forward to catch a movie with my cellgroup members. Me, yap, eugene and jeslyn went Century Square to watch 430pm show "Max Payne". The preview looks cool with all the special effects and dark angels flying around.. Wahh thought its going to be a great show..

After buying the tickets, we still have half an hour to go, so we had a light snack at the Food Court. We just love to eat.. Jeslyn was complaining she has been gaining weight since she joined the cellgroup.. Me n eugene totally ignore her.. (she is quite a big eater herself.. haha) So we had roti pratas.. woo.. extremely sinful.. but we had a great time eating.. Yap went into coma and slept for 15min.. n drooling all over his bag.. yucks..

After eating, we eat again.. we bought one large popcorn n drink, plus one big packet of chips.. Eugene complained we bought salty popcorn which he dun like, he prefer sweet ones.. in the end, he still eats the salty popcorn.. n most of the chips.. kill him..

Back to the movie, it was so boring and plotless, that I struggle to keep myself awake.. Eugene dozed off in the middle of the show, jeslyn looked blur, wondering whats the plot of the story. Except for yap, who plays the computer game Max Payne before & knows the story, we concluded that it is a big waste of money and time!! The show should be named MAXIMUM PAIN instead of MAX PAYNE!! We felt so much pain paying $9.50 each for the movie ticket.. We prayed and asked God to forgive us for wasting $$ and time in this lousy show.. But overall, I enjoyed the fellowship with my members and making fun of one another.. At least, we enjoyed the food that we ate.. Haha

Bugia Iluma Project

In the picture is my current project which is driving me crazy everyday.. But the design of the building is really fantastic and is done by WOHA, one of the top architects in Singapore who won many awards.. Though I am only the M&E consultant for this project, I am quite proud of this project which costs over $100million. Do drop by this building beside Bugis Street when the building is expected to open to public during Christmas this year..

Connecting people to God

As I was doing my quiet time, suddenly God spoke to me "What is the primary purpose of Christians on earth?" To serve God in our ministry? To do well in our lives & glorify God? Or to love God with all our heart? No doubt, all these things are important in our christian walk..

But I believe that the primary purpose of Christians is really to connect people back to God and restore the relationship we have with God! Without God, people will live without hope and purpose, and without eternity with God forever! Lets pray that God will use us to connect more and more people back to Him before Jesus comes back again. Amen.

Luke 4:18

Fighting, fighting

Really tired by all the fighting in my job.. Fighting with architects, engineers, contractors and even clients! Need more guidance and wisdom of God to handle these..

Shrewd & innocent

And Jesus said to the 12 disciples: "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves." Matthew 10:16

Jesus told us to be shrewd as snakes and innocent as doves.. Not that we should be as cunning or evil as snakes but simply it means that we should be quick-minded, discerning & intelligent, yet maintaining the pureness and holiness of doves. Wah amazing..

I used to think that Christians should be very nice, peace-loving and defensive people. But Jesus has indeed commanded us to be shrewd and smart yet innocent and pure in this broken-down & wicked society. We need to be sharp & discerning when dealing with people!

Getting older

I am getting older.. by next sat.. I be 29..
Then few months later (2009), I will reach the Big Three!

Maybe yap or jamie can.. they look 18 every year..
This is depressing.. life has to go on..

Gastric Flu again!

One of my worst nightmare- gastric flu struck me on thursday night. I kept vomitting non-stop until nothing is left in my stomach. Only fluid came out of my vomit. I went to see the doctor nearby and he gave me a jab to stop the vomit. But I could not stop vomitting and feel dizzy, and could not sleep. I pray to God to help me sleep well.. Slowly, I sat on my sofa and went to deep sleep. After 15 minutes on the sofa, I felt much better and slept soundly on my bed till the next morning! Thank God for His peace & healing..

Realise that everything in my life lies in the hands of my Lord Jesus.. The air that I breathe, the food that I eat, the house that I live.. God has made it possible for me by His grace.. Just wanna thank God for everything that He has done in my life..

Tears of the sun

Yesterday I watched a really good show on channel 5, 10pm. The title is "Tears of the sun" starring Bruce Willis. At first, I thought its those boring war movies, the US soldiers battling wars. But as I watched the show, I was totally encaptured by the touching story.

Bruce Willis is a US lieutanent leading his team on a mission to bring a female doctor from Nigeria back to US. As Nigeria was having terrorist attacks, they needed to protect her from those brutal guerillas who killed anyone mercilessly. When the US army finally got her on a helicopter back to US, she wanted to bring along those innocent Nigerians along with them. However, Bruce Willis did what he was commanded to do - to bring her to safety only & nothing else. On the way back, Bruce suddenly commanded his team to go back & bring along the Nigerians with them. However, to their horror, the guerillas were waiting for them to ambush them. The story went on with the guerillas on hot pursuit on the US soldiers & the people. The US soldiers fought bravely with their lives to protect the people. To cut the story short, they managed to bring the people out of the bondage of the terrorists and found a new place for them to live peacefully.

What touches me was the bravery of the US soldiers who fought their lives to save the innocent people. Some of them even sacrificed their lives during the battle, for the sake of their freedom. As I pondered through, God reminded me that we should be like the soldiers, fighting our lives to save the people from the bondage of satan. Sometimes, we could have done nothing like Bruce Willis and go back to our comfortable lives. But Bruce Willis turned back and chose to risk his life to save the lives of others. As a Christian, we should lay our lives for the primary purpose of God - to bring the unsaved out of the darkness and into eternity with Jesus. I teared as I prayed to God. "Father, I lay down my life at the altar once again, it is not me that live, but it is You that lives in me. Use me again to bring the unsaved out of the bondage of satan & into freedom in Christ Jesus."

To end off, a quote from the show which really catches my heart - "The only necessary evil thing a good man will do is to do nothing." Will we do nothing & watch people die w/o Christ eveyday?

My Favourite Primary School Teacher

Today I had a pleasant surprise when my primary school teacher, Ms Yeo, sms me this morning. She said that she is acting in a show on Channel 5, Behind Closed Doors, and told me to watch her act tonight. It has been around 18 years since I left my now-dysfunction Guillemard Primary School.

In the show, she acted as an old woman who was abused by her own daughter! (I feel like killing the daughter who tortured her in the show.. haha) As I showed the show, suddenly past memories of my primary school days flashed through my mind..

Still remember how she encouraged me when I was down and helped me so much in my PSLE. (I got 2 A stars thanks to her after-school tuitions..) She even teached me how to chase girls when I grow older & taught me good manners & social equiette which is out of the normal teaching curriculum. She is really knowledgable & taught us 5 subjects then - English, Maths, Science, Arts & Music.

The best moment was when she selected me to be the lead actor in my school farewell performance, beating those boys who were more handsome & eloquent than me.. Nevertheless, I acted as Prince Charming and gave an outstanding performance. After I left school, I lost contact with her for almost 10 years until I saw her in my friends' kids school year book. I went to find her in the school and since then, I kept in contact with her until now..

Ms Yeo will remain as the best teacher I ever had in my life, for teaching me & giving me confidence.. Concindentally, she is also a Christian & I can really sense the love of God in her life.. Thanks Ms Yeo.. for your encouragement & guidance! (like giving a Teachers' Day thank-you speech.. Haha)

Memorial offering

I was really blessed by the Book of Leviticus, it says that the priest burns the sacrifice as a memorial offering on the altar. Sometimes, we think by giving a breakthrough offering, God will bless us immediately the next week or within that month. However, when we did not get our instant breakthrough, we tend to be discouraged and begin to lose faith in giving.

But this verse encourages us that by giving a memorial offering to the Lord, God remembers our offering and keeps in his mind. The breakthrough may not be instant, but as we keep giving to God (sacrifice), mixed with our faith (fire), God remembers our offering as a sweet aroma to heaven and blesses us back 30, 60 & 100 fold return, according to our faith!

Bringing out the life & light in us

I found this verse 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 extremely powerful..

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body."

Sometimes, we are held down by our difficult circumstances, and finding hard to overcome them. But the word of God encourages us to bring out the "treasure" which is the life of Jesus and use it to overcome the obstacles in my lives! Praise the Lord!

Disaster soocer season

Three of my favourite teams, Liverpool FC, Holland national soccer team and my beloved Singapore Lions team all fail in a forgetable season this year! Starting with Liverpool FC, it started brightly with torres scoring freely and the team on the roll, suddenly it keep losing points and in the end, it lost to my most-hated team ManU in the Premier League. Then in Champions League, it lost to Chelsea.. all thanks to Riise own goal.. (sell him!) and Liverpool bow out of CL semi-final. Sob..

Second disppointment in Asian World Cup Qualifying, I was rooting for an upset for Singapore to qualify for final round. Instead, Singapore was embarrassed at home 3-7 to uzbekistan and 2-0 to saudi arabia. So much for the foreign talent scheme.. Sob.. But still, I am always their die-hard Lion Fan since 1992.

Last but not least, my beloved Oranje, Dutch soccer team. They bulldozed their way with 3 amazing wins in group stage, then suddenly it punctured and lost to Russia, coached by former Dutch coach, Hiddink. Traitor! Heart pain again..

This is really a miserable soccer season for me.. Anyway, look forward to new season.. The Bible says Hope does not disappoint.. Keep hoping and believing some day they will win something! Woo..

How Jesus came to my life

Since young, I was a depressed and timid guy. Coupled with my skin problem, I had extreme low self-esteem and always isolate myself to people. My parents loves me very much though and I had two wonderful sisters. However, something bad happened to my 2nd sister, when we were in primary school. She had leukemia and had to go to hospital frequently for chemotherapy. At that time, I did not understand why she had to go through the painful treatment and I cried when I saw her lying in hospital. Until we found a suitable bone marrow donor, she may not live long.

But thank God, my uncle, who is a Christian, prayed for her condition ceaselessly. He told us to believe in Jesus that He would do a miracle and heal my sister completely. So we prayed and asked Jesus to heal my sister. Our prayers were finally answered when we found a suitable donor and she went for the operation. There were no after effects after the operation and she can live a normal life like others. Praise the Lord!

Subsequently, we went to my uncle's church and began to know more about this wonderful God called Jesus. At first, I was still in doubt and could not believe that Jesus is God and He loves us so much. But I knew that He is the one who healed my sister and gave her a second chance to live again! Slowly, Jesus began to do a work in my life and I finally gave my life to Him when I was 14.

Until now, I am still grateful to my Lord Jesus Christ for healing my sister and giving her a second chance to live. Also, He has changed my life completely and gave me hope to live! Without Him, I would still be bounded by depression and low self-esteem. Right now, I feel more happy and confident in myself. I no longer need to live in my past hurts and disappointments, but can boldly declare in 2 Cor 5:17 - "Whoever is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away and all things have become new!"
